Roman Baths Trip

On Monday the 21st of November we went on a trip to the Roman Baths in Bath and we all had a brilliant time! When we arrived at the Baths we explored the museum and learnt lots of new and interesting facts about the Baths. For example Romans used to throw money into the water to thank the Goddess Minerva for blessing them with it as a resource. We also discovered that the Baths were one of the first buildings to be erected when the Romans came to Britain over 2,000 years ago!

In the afternoon, we had a brilliant time taking part in a Roman Workshop. Here we learnt all about Roman cooking and all theunusual things they had for dinner including peacock brains! We also got a chance to dress up in Roman clothes- wearing togas and tunics and act out being different characters either soldiers or slaves!  Our final morning activity was to make our own Roman mosaics out of square tiles, we really enjoyed doing this and debated whether we thought that mosaics are a form of art.

Here are some photos of our fantastic day out! Feel free to ask us questions about our trip if you see us around school.

Science Topic Sound

Our Science topic for Term 2 is Sound. The children have been really inquisitive about their topic and are always asking questions to find out more. Last week we looked at sound produced by a range of musical instruments and i set the children a challenge to be creative at lunch time with the play pod equipment. The children were asked to see if they could use a range of materials to create a band. Take a look at the team work and the outcome below. They also had their very own conductor.

Pizza Express Trip

Chefs in the making.

We visited Pizza Express in Cabot Circus as part of our cooking and nutrition topic. The children learnt how to make a Margarita Pizza. The children also explored processes regarding food hygiene, what happens in a pizzeria restaurant as well as learning about the ingredients and where they come from.

This was a fantastic opportunity, provided free by Pizza Express in Cabot Circus. The children all made their own pizza that were cooked and boxed before we came back to school.

Year 4 said a big thank you to all the Pizza Express team on the day and especially to Mark, the store manager.

Take a look at what we did below. Can you spot the picture of when we flipped our pizzas in the air!
